Buying A New Photocopier
A photocopier can be a business necessity and one that your
organization would surely miss if it had to live without one. Whether
you use a photo copy to back up information, use it for the sharing of
information or whatever you use it for. Funny, we seem to miss things
when they are gone and well a photocopier is no different.
I worked in a place once where this happened. The photocopier was
getting old and we all know what happens when machines get old, well
they don’t work as well as they should, they start to break down and
become unreliable. When one has to start looking for a new one, short
of wasting time by getting sales men to visit you and receiving quotes,
what can you do?
Determine what you need the machine for (how many copies you will
need to do on a monthly basis and just how many frills you need. Do you
need a collator with in your machine? Do you want direct hook up from
your computer to your photocopier? These are a few things that you need
to consider before you start looking.
You can expect to pay about $700 for a bare bones type of copier or
if you are looking at a high end type of copier it might be up as high
as $1,500 for a laser type of copier. But if you don’t have the cash to
spend on one outright, leasing or renting might be the plan of attack
for you
Some leases will allow you to have the copier after the lease is up
and others will always own the copier and you are simply ‘renting’ it
from them.
You can go online and do some research that way. Hit large companies
like Xerox or Cannon or Lexmark and see what they have to offer, do
some comparisons and some research, compare what your needs are to what
they have to offer in the way of copiers and the features that these
copiers have. Then you can approach the company of your choice being
fully armed (so you aren’t talked into features you don’t need or want)
and then you are good to go.
In addition to researching photocopiers at large companies, be sure to seek help from local representatives. For example if you are in Portland, Oregon or Naples, Florida you may want to look up 'Photocopiers' in the Yellowpages where you will find many local dealers. Or, call the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce, Portland Business Alliance, or Naples Chamber of Commerce. These business networking groups can recomend a reputable local company that can help you make the best buying decision possible.
