Crafty Ideas For Kids

There are a few ideas that keep kids busy, give them something to be proud of and can be used for gifts for grandmas, aunts, teachers and the like. Here are a few ideas that can be used as gifts from your little tykes.

Small grape vine wreaths as picture frames – purchase a number of small grape vine wreaths, small buttons or sequins from your local craft store. Use a hot glue gun to attach a ribbon at the back for hanging and affix your child’s picture to the back as well, so the face can be seen through the wreath. Then go ahead and decorate the front of the wreath with a bow at the top and the buttons or sequins around the body of it.

Another picture idea is to save juice can lids and make a small picture collage on them of family photos or magazine pictures. Using a water and glue mixture, glue them onto the juice can lid. When it is dry, the glue/water mixture will give the lid a shiny surface, then you can go ahead and affix a magnet to the back (these can be bought at craft stores) and viola, you have a fridge magnet that any relative will be proud to show off!

One great idea to do with your kids for a grandparent or teacher is to sit down with them and have the kids write all the great things about the relative and why they love them. Then in turn, cut these thoughts into strips and put them into a large ‘mason’ jar type jar. Decorate the jar and the lid and give the finished product to that special relative. The relative will love reading these when they are feeling a little down in the dumps because it will help them remember that they are important to someone!

Clay pots are great gift containers. Your child can paint them and personalize them and fill them with just about anything literally from soup to nuts and almost anything in between.

How about letting your child make some Christmas cards or gift cards? Card stock paper can be bought at any craft store and they can decorate the card or tag’s surface with stickers, rubber stamps, glitter glue, bits of ribbon and lace, well just about anything. With the tags, all you need to do is to punch a hole at the top and you are done.

If you put your mind to it, there are a lot of crafty ideas you can use with your kids. All it takes are a few supplies and ideas and you can have a few sweet looking gifts to give.
