The Working Women’s Christmas Survival Guide
So starts the season! Presents to buy, cookies to bake, cards to
write, presents to wrap, clean the house, go to one party after
another! Whew, the list never seems to end!!
Divide and conquer! Divide your present list up –decide who you need
to buy for and run with it. If several toys are on your list, pay a
visit to a big box toy store and buy all the toys needed in one shot.
-wrap as soon as you bring it home, or have a wrapping party (put
stuff in boxes so it’s not visible, and then give it to people to wrap)
-some people start with the sales in January and shop all year round
which is smart for two reasons 1) saves panic at Christmas time; 2)
saves $$ at Christmas time. (you might want to think of that for next
year)
-don’t want to go shopping? Surf the net and shop that way.
-Don’t feel as though you have to go to every Christmas party, have
the ability to pick and choose, and if you simply must go, only go for
a few hours and make excuses (specially if it is an open house).
-Try and keep to your kids schedule. Remember to let your kids have time to have a ‘meltdown’ periodically too.
-with regards to holiday baking, you have 3 options, either spend a
whole Sunday baking; get involved with a cookie exchange or just go out
and buy deserts. Do what’s best for you.
-BE REALISTIC! Don’t to more than you can handle!
-Take time for you!
And finally, remember what the season is about, it’s about family
and friends, sharing and laughing; and especially love. Have a
wonderful Christmas season!
