Visual Focus: The Power of "One" Simplicity is key to good design. When you put together a page layout let one thing dominate the page - this is what will catch the readers' eye and draw them deeper into your piece. A dominant headline OR dominant photo works well. A dominant headline AND dominant photo DOES NOT! While the headline and photo may be great in and of themselves, if you try to equally emphasize them you'll end up with a design in which neither really draw attention. On the other hand if you use one visual point, and tastefully accent that visual point you create a clean, well framed piece that gets results. Note: The "one" point of visual focus on your page can also be a cluster of images - if done correctly.
