The Business Womans Guide to Packing For Business Travel
Walk around a crowed airport on a week day and you will no doubt see
a good mix of business people travelling and this will include both men
and women business travellers.
Whether your trip be a short jaunt for a couple of days or an
extended business trip, it important to know what to take and how to
pack for that it, how can you pack for several days and look put
together?
Of course, a little before hand knowledge about what you will be
doing is handy. Are you going to a gala that you will need dress up
for? Meetings the entire time you are there? Casual Fridays? Trade
shows?
-If you wear suits, you can wear the same suit but take along different blouses and accessories.
-Dark clothes will cut down on stains
-If traveling on a short trip, pack only clothes with colors that
match, so you can manage with just a single pair of shoes. For longer
trips, its best to pick one colour (like black or navy) and work with
it. That will require you to take fewer shoes also.
-Take comfortable shoes if you are attending or working a trade show.
-Fabric should come before fashion – does it wrinkle easily? Will it
show stains? Will it dry fast if you need to wash it? Those are things
to consider when packing.
Things other than clothes that are handy to take are:
A flashlight; a watch with an alarm; phone numbers; eye masks and
earplugs for sleeping; extra snacks (a vending machine or room service
may not always be available); spare change – in case there actually is
a vending machine handy; a bottle or two of water (good for the plane
and for your hotel!); some slippers for your hotel – if your feet tend
to get cold); an extra pair of eye glasses and a lint brush.
Things not to take are:
A pair of new shoes (now is not the time to break in new shoes);
your best jewelry (offers the risk of getting them stolen); do some
research before you go. If you are going to a foreign country, see what
is acceptable or not acceptable to bring along. Depending on the
country, you need to bring clothes that will fit in with customs and
their religion. Of course you don’t want to bring a leather jacket to a
country where cows are sacred, etc.
When travelling for business, there are a lot of things to consider,
what you will be doing, where you are going, what the temperature will
be, and what their customs are. Keep this in mind while packing for
that next business trip and as long as you are prepared for the work
you will actually be doing there as well, you should be fine.

Office Romance - Professional Women Beware |

Office Romance – Professional Women Beware
Since you spend have of your life (so it seems) at work, it makes
sense to go out with some cute co-worker that you have had your eye on
for some time. But is this a wise decision?
Yes there are couple that have met and even married through their
work place, but think of the flip side. What happens if you meet
someone at work, have a relationship and it ends and you still have to
make nice with the person you broke up with.
If there is total chemistry between you and you have weighed all the
plusses and minuses and feel that this is the route you want to take,
there are a few hints that you might want to keep in mind.
-start off slow. Think of how this person is work, because there you usually see all facets of the person.
-be discreet. Don’t use work email to send cute little notes to each
other or don’t spend major amounts of time in each others
presence. That will only give the office gossips fuel to add to their
fire. Meet away from the office environment.
-accept that people will eventually find out, be honest and just say
‘yes, I am seeing so and so’ and leave it that – again less fuel for
the gossips fire.
-at all costs stay professional. Work as hard as before or harder to
ensure the powers that be that no, this romance will not interfere with
your jobs done to their satisfaction.
-if the relationship doesn’t go well, resist revenge. Smile, be
polite to him along with everyone else and show the world including him
that its over and you are none the worse for wear.
But think twice before dating your boss or supervisor, because if
goes sour, they could make your life well you know. In fact, it might
be wise to give a lot of thought before you get into any office
relationship at all. |

Finding Family Time When You're Female Executive
It’s been a long busy week with everyone rushing here and there, how
do you connect with your kids and significant other. When the weekend
comes, if you are like me, all you want to is collapse and try and get
stuff done that you haven’t had a chance all week to do. You know, fun
things like ironing, grocery shopping, that kind of thing. But the
weekend is also a time to re-connect with your loved ones with out any
kind of pressure.
What kind of weekend rituals do you do together as a family? Some
people have a special family meal that they share on Friday evenings
when each person shares what exciting thing happened to them during the
week. Other families make Friday nights their family game night. For
some, it is watching a movie or a weekly television show together. Some
families go out to eat once a week or month on the weekend or do
something equally as fun. Some make a special breakfast at some point
over the weekend and that is their special time together.
Really, it doesn’t matter what you do or when you do it with your
family. It is important to connect with your and create memories that
will last a lifetime.

The Best Cell Phone
Cell phones are practically every where these days from the office
to the school hall and every where in between and with so many to
choose from, what is the best cell phone for you?
Of course it depends who it is for. Is it for your high school
student in case of emergencies or so they can text message their
friends? (some even have an fm radio installed in the phone!) Do you
want a camera phone? Is it for the techno geek who has to have the
latest in technology? Then you will want to get one that is top of the
line. Do you want a ‘fashion phone’? How about a phone that looks
pretty but is still functional? Is sending emails from your phone
important to you? Does the size of your phone matter? Perhaps you want
the smallest one available so it will be highly portable?
Wow, with so many to choose from where do you begin? Like any major
purchase, the important thing is to research before you buy. Take stock
of your needs and wants in a cell phone, make a list and take it
shopping with you. If you go to a mall, chances are you can pick up a
trendy phone and a plan at the same time, which saves time and energy.
The great thing about cell phones is that you can pick a cell phone
you love with the features that you need/want and take it to a carrier
and get the kind of plan and service contract that suits you. If a
child that has gone away to college or university, a pre-paid plan may
work for them. Or if you are only using it for emergency purposes, a
pay as you go plan would suit you.
Research before you purchase and you will then get the best cell phone for you.

Clean Your House in Less Time |

Clean Your House In Less Time
If you are like most of us busy women, the last thing you worry
about is a clean house. But on the other hand, you want to maintain a
clean house and not have to spend hours on cleaning it.
The key is if you let things pile up, things like laundry, dusting,
laundry, clutter or even vacuuming, its gonna take longer to get on top
of the mess. What you need to do is try and accomplish a little bit of
house cleaning every night. But all it takes a little ambition, a plan,
a routine, and the right equipment.
(plan your work, work your plan).
Perform a quick tidy on a daily basis is the best to keep your space
clean. It is a good way to conquer clutter on a daily basis. Enlist
your kids help. Listen to music and make it a fun time. Or you can set
a timer, give each person/child a room to tidy and make a race and hey
you can even have prizes. No, I am not advocating bribery, but perhaps
you can let the winning person decide what is for supper or you can buy
dollar store toys/items that you can put in a container and let the
person pick. Some people assign children chores that coincide with
their allowance. You should also have consequences for them not
completing assigned tasks. But if you have to clean solo, listen to
books on tape or listen to your favourite music.
-Give a quick wipe to the bathroom sink, a swish around the toilet
bowl with the brush and a quick blast of an air freshener should do the
trick.
-Put toys into a bin, trunk, or basket that you have for the occasion.
-Make your bed and get the kids to make theirs (even a 5 year old can pull up their sheets and make their bed neat.
-Even though their way of doing things might not be your way of cleaning, accept their help and be grateful.
-Use cleaning times as teaching for your children how to clean.
A clean house is not an impossible task, but takes time and dedication to make it happen. |
